I know it’s Mardi Gras because the Floozies are in town for Krewe du Vieux. Middle aged sluts rule this city smoking joints and swilling whiskey right out in the street. You’re lucky if you can catch one for some back alley action.

When we climbed to the top of the Judge Seeber bridge, we could see the whole city laid out in front of us. Faraway lights licked the horizon and shot their brightness back at us.
